For message recording, your telephone has a Built-in answering system, and it also supports Voicemail service offered by your telephone service provider(subscription is required, and fee may apply).
The main differences between them are:

Use the built-in answering system to record your messages
Your Voicemail service can bundle in your telephone plan. As such, you would need to contact your telephone service provider to disable it.
*TIP: Can I switch back to Voicemail service if I want to?
As long as your telephone plan includes the Voicemail service, you can still re-enable it through your service provider.Use the voicemail service to record your messages
Simply turn off the Built-in answering system at any time, and you can use the Voicemail service only.Use both the Built-in answering system and the Voicemail service to record messages
By default, the Voicemail service is usually set to answer after 2 rings, while your Built-in answering system is set after 3 rings. Please check with your telephone service provider to learn how to set your voicemail settings.Suggest to set your Built-in answering system to answer calls at least 2 rings earlier than your Voicemail service. In other words, if your answering system sets to answer after 3 rings (by default), then you need to set the Voicemail service to answer after 5 rings.
What happened is that if you on a call or the answering system is already recording, and you receive ANOTHER incoming call, then the third caller is able to leave a Voicemail message.
On the other hand, if you are not on a call nor the answering system is recording, the incoming caller can leave a message directly to the Built-in Answering system.
INTERNET light is not illuminating on the base.

Check to ensure that the LAN ports of the Base and Voice Modem are wired in accordance with the Installation Guide.
If installation problems persist, call 1-800-COMCAST for assistance.
I am unable to activate my Comcast cordless phone.

Wny am I unable to make a long distance call using this phone?

If you are able to make local calls but unable to make long distance calls, check that you are dialing 1 plus the area code for your out of area calls. For international calls, ensure you are dialing 011, the country code and the phone number.
If further assistance is needed, call 1-800-COMCAST.
I cannot receive calls on my handset.

Confirm that the handset ringer is turned on.
If the phone emits a half ring on incoming calls, Call Forwarding may be activated. Disable the Call Forwarding feature.
Try plugging the cable into a different jack to find out if the issue is isolated to one phone or jack.
If you are unable to make and receive calls, review the symptom for "No Dial Tone".

Press the Reset button located on the back of the unit until the lights on the front of the unit go off. Release the Reset button and wait for the unit to reset. This may take up to five minutes.
Do not unplug the Voice modem from its power source when troubleshooting your Comcast Digital phone service.
I cannot access one or more of the online services (News / Sports / Horoscope / Weather).

Check if at least one of the services (News / Sports / Horoscope / Weather) is available. If so, the condition is temporary and should be resolved soon.
Confirm that the INFO light on the base is lit. If not, check and correct the wiring between LAN ports of the Base and Voice Modem.
Confirm that the DS and US lights on the Voice modem are lit. If not, check the cable signal by restarting the base. If poor, try plugging the cable in a different cable jack to get a good signal.
Restart the base and Voice modem and try again.
Why doesn’t my telephone ring when I receive calls?

To raise, lower or turn the ringer volume off completely: Step 1: With the handset idle, scroll › to Settings.
Step 2: Press SEL.
Step 3: Press ▼ and scroll down to Phone Settings, then press SEL.
Step 4: With Ringer Volume highlighted, press Change.
Step 5: Scroll ▲ or ▼ to raise or lower the ringer volume. When no bars are shaded, the ringer is Off.
Step 6: Press the Apply button to confirm your setting.
Step 7: Press and hold the OFF button to return to the idle screen. -

Other electronic products (i.e., 802.11 wireless networking products, radios, radio towers, pager towers, cell phones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, personal computers, kitchen appliances and other cordless phones) can cause interference with your cordless phone. Try installing your phone as far away as possible from these types of electronic devices. -

When placing the handset in its charger, confirm that the charge contacts on the handset and charger are making a good connection. The CHARGE light stays illuminated while the handset is in its charger.
You should allow 16 hours to fully charge the handset battery. For optimum daily performance, return the handset to its charger when not in use. -

Why don’t I get a dial tone on my handset?

Move the handset closer to the base. The operating range may vary with environmental conditions and time of use. There may be places within your environment that a cordless phone will not work well. If the problem only occurs in certain areas of your environment, you can conclude that there is nothing wrong with the phone. Consider trying a phone that operates on a different wireless frequency. -

Confirm proper installation of the handset battery:
Step 1: Align the two holes in the plug with the socket pins, then snap the plug into place.
Step 2: Place the battery in the compartment, making sure the wires will not get in the way of the battery cover.
Step 3: Replace cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.
Step 4: Be sure to charge the battery in the handset for a minimum of 16 hours before using your phone. -

Make sure that the power cord is securely plugged into the charger and electrical outlet. Make sure the electrical outlet is not controlled by a wall switch. -

Check if the POWER light on the Voice Modem and Base, and DS, US, Telephone 1 / Telephone 2 lights on the Voice Modem are illuminated.
If the POWER lights are out, check all wiring.
If the POWER lights are glowing and DS on the Voice Modem is blinking, check the cable signal by restarting the base. If the signal is poor, try a different cable jack.
If Telephone 1 / Telephone 2 lights are out, check the wiring of the RJ11 phone jack and the Voice Modem and Base.
Confirm there is dial tone by connecting a different phone to the RJ11 jack on the Voice Modem.
If problems persist, call 1-800-COMCAST for support. -

You may need to replace the rechargeable battery, especially if it has been in service for more than one year. To find a replacement, refer to our VTech Battery Finder. If a battery for your model is unavailable, you can search the internet using the key words cordless phone batteries for an on-line supplier. If you prefer to purchase locally, you can look for a replacement battery at your area consumer electronics retailers. It is recommended that you take your present battery with you to insure your replacement is the correct size and has the correct plug (where applicable) and specifications.
Why am I unable to dial out using this telephone?

When using the speakerphone, background noise can interfere with dialing as well as hearing the other party. Use the MUTE feature in the presence of background noise in your environment. -

Disconnect any other equipment that is connected in series with your phone. If your phone begins to perform normally, there is a compatability issue with your other equipment. -

My speakerphone fades in and out. What can I do to fix this?

Excessive background noise will cause a speakerphone to fade in and out. Try controlling the background noise by turning off any audio devices near the speakerphone. Also, try to avoid interrupting the person at the other end of the conversation while they are speaking. If background noise cannot be controlled, you should terminate speakerphone operation and return to normal handset mode. -

When using a speakerphone, controlling background noise in your environment is essential. While you are listening to your party, press Mute to temporarily turn your base microphone off. When it is your turn to speak, remember to press Unmute to turn the microphone on again.
Why won’t the battery(s) in my telephone handset hold a charge?

The ringer on my phone is too loud or too soft. How do I adjust the ringer volume?

To raise, lower or turn the ringer volume off completely:

When 2 or more phones are in use at the same time, your ability to hear and/or be heard can be limited. Hang up any extension phones that are currently active. -

Check all power cords to ensure they are properly connected.
Check the power outlet to ensure it is working. Avoid using an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch.

Despite your VoIP box shows full signal strength, there could still be no dial tone/ display Line in Use/ etc. This may due to the abnormality of signal and voltage levels. Follow this short video to reset your VoIP box and its connected devices.

[Background]
• VoIP box connected via SIM/ LAN connection.
• Some VoIP boxes have displays and some not. While displays show steady ON and ready, you might still experience with no dial tone sound/ display Line in Use.[To Reset]
• Some Power off button does not fully power off the unit. It only put the VoIP box in standby mode. To truly power off, unplug the power adapter of your VoIP box.
• Disconnect all devices from the box. After a moment, reconnect your power adapter, and then press power button to turn ON.
• Wait until the VoIP box is steady ON and ready.
• Connect your telephone cable from your Telephone base to your VoIP box.REMINDER!!!
• Make sure you didn't connect the telephone cable from the Telephone wall outlet to VoIP box telephone port!!! Doing so will not damage the device, but it will affect the call function and becomes unusable. This is why you experience no dial tone, Line in Use with busy tone, etc.
• During power outage, your landline phone will not be available since it requires external electric power despite your VoIP box has a backup battery.If this situation persists, contact your VoIP / VoIP box service provider for further support.
