My Baby Unit is making a click or spark sound. Is that normal?

This click or sparking sound from the Baby Unit is a normal occurrence that happens when your unit is adapting to its environment's lighting condition.
To achieve accurate and high quality video feeds, your Baby Unit is equipped with an Infrared Cut-off Filter lens that optimizes color accuracy in bright, day-time environments. When the environment turns dark at night, this filter lens is withdrawn to enhance night vision quality. The brief click or sparking sound you hear is from the filter lens activating and withdrawing as the unit switches from day to night vision (and vice versa).
My baby monitor is not working normally (e.g. connection or power issues). What should I do?

1.Confirm the power adapter is securely plugged in. You should only use the power supply and batteries provided with your baby monitor. Make sure the electrical outlet is working and not controlled by a wall switch.
2.The Parent Viewer may be too far away from the Baby Unit. Or, other equipment or devices in your house may be affecting the connection between your Parent Viewer and Baby unit(s). When placing the units closer together; note that they should not be closer than 3 feet apart.
3.Noise static and other erratic performances may be caused by interference from nearby electronic equipment and other cordless devices using the same frequency. Place your baby monitor away from these devices as far as possible.
4.Your camera may require a reboot. Try rebooting the Parent Viewer and Baby Unit:
Step 1. Disconnect the power to the Baby Unit(s) and Parent Viewer.
Step 2. Wait a few seconds before connecting power back to the Baby Unit(s) and the Parent Viewer.
Step 3. Wait approximately 15 secs.
Step 4. Reconnect the power adapters and turn on the Baby Unit(s) and Parent Viewer.
Step 5. Allow up to a minute for the Parent Viewer to connect with the Baby Unit(s).
Why doesn’t the Baby Unit’s and Parent Viewer’s LED status light turn on when I switch on the units?

1.The Parent Viewer or Baby Unit may not be connected to power. Ensure that the appliance plug is securely plugged into the power jack of the Parent Viewer/Baby Unit and the adapter is snugly plugged into the wall socket. Then, turn on both units to establish connection.
2.If your Baby Unit is operating normally but the LED Status does not turn on, it may be because the LED Status indicator has been switched off.
To turn LED Status back on:
On your Parent Viewer
1.Go to the Baby Unit Settings menu
2.Select LED Status then press ◄ or ► or MENU/SELECT to toggle the button on.
The LED light on the camera is too bright. How can I turn it off?

You have the option to turn off the LED Status light on your baby unit.
On your Parent Viewer
1.Go to the Baby Unit Settings menu and select LED Status.
2.Press ◄ or ► or MENU/SELECT to toggle the button off.
Why is my Parent Viewer displaying the video feed in black and white?
- During night time or in a dark room, the infrared LEDs on your Baby Unit automatically turn on to activate night vision. If your Parent Viewer display is in black-and-white, it is because B&W Night Mode has been selected. Other than B&W Night Mode , you can also choose to view in Color Night Mode . Switch between night vision modes in the Night Mode menu.
Why does the Parent Viewer beep?

The Parent Viewer produces alert tones when a detection alert has been triggered (sound, motion, or temperature), when the Parent Viewer's battery is running low, or when the Baby Unit(s) and Parent Viewer are disconnected. Read more about the the alert types and remedy method below.
1.Sound Detection Alert
Alert plays when the Baby Unit detects sounds that exceed user-set levels.
You can turn off Sound Detection Alert in the Detection Alerts menu to prevent future alerts.
2.Motion Detection Alert
Alert plays when the Baby Unit detects movements that exceed user-set levels.
You can turn off Motion Detection Alert in the Detection Alerts menu to prevent future alerts.
3.Temperature Alert
Alert plays when the environment's temperature detected by the Baby Unit falls outside the user-set temperature range.
The temperature of your baby’s room may be too high or too low, adjust the temperature in your baby's room. You can also adjust the temperature range, or turn off Temperature Alert in the Detection Alerts menu to prevent future alerts.
4.Low Battery Alert
The Parent Viewer is running low and will soon shut down. Charge the Parent Viewer until the battery icon becomes solid again to resolve the alert.
You can also mute or lower the Low Battery Alert volume in the Settings menu.
5.No Link Alert
Whenever the connection link between the Parent Viewer and Baby Unit(s) is lost, the Parent Viewer will produce an alert.
The Baby Unit(s) may be out of range. To resolve the alert, move the Parent Viewer closer to the Baby Unit(s) (but not less than 3 feet) to re-establish connection. Ensure that all units are turned on and ready for connection.
You can also mute or lower the No Link Alert volume in the Settings menu.
Why can’t I hear any sounds from the Parent Viewer? Why can’t I hear my baby cry?

When certain sounds are not transmitted to the Parent Viewer, it may be because the Parent Viewer speaker volume is too low/muted or the Baby Unit's sound detection sensitivity is too low.
Try increasing the Parent Viewer speaker volume , or adjusting the Baby Unit’s sound sensitivity to the highest level (level 5).
The Baby Unit may not detect some sounds when its sensitivity level is set below a certain level. On the highest sensitivity level, the Baby Unit will detect and transmit all sounds.
Why does the Parent Viewer react too quickly to other sounds? It's picking up too much sound.

When you hear too many sounds, it may be because the Parent Viewer speaker volume is too high, or the Baby Unit's sound detection sensitivity is too high. With these settings, the Baby Unit will easily pick up sounds other than those of your baby.
Adjust the sound detection sensitivity to a lower level or lower the Parent Viewer speaker volume.
Can the camera be mounted or installed on the wall?

All LeapFrog baby monitors are designed to be wall-mountable.
The product comes with a wall mount bracket , as well as 2 screws and 2 anchors to help you mount the Baby Unit in a stable position.
Will the baby monitor alert me when my kid makes noise/movement when I am asleep?

Yes, LeapFrog baby monitors have Sound Detection and Motion Detection . It will automatically wake the Parent Viewer when a sound or motion is detected from the Baby Unit exceeding user-set sound/motion sensitivity levels.
You can turn on Sound Detection Alert and Motion Detection Alert , and adjust the Baby Unit's sound and motion sensitivity levels in the Detection menu.
How do I keep the video on at all times?

To keep your Parent Viewer screen on at all times, switch off both Dim Mode (under Baby Unit Settings ) and Auto Wake Up (under Sound Detection ).
Tip:
Keep your Parent Viewer connected to a power adapter to maintain constant monitoring. With Dim Mode and Auto Wake Up deactivated, the Parent Viewer screen will not automatically conserve energy.
What is the voltage range for my baby monitor? Would it work in other countries?
- The LeapFrog baby monitor AC power adapters' technical specifications are 100-240V DC. While this means the unit is compatible with countries with voltages between 100V and 240V, you will need to separately obtain a plug adapter for the specific country you wish to operate the baby monitor in.
Can I turn the screen off on the Parent Viewer, but still hear sounds from the Baby Unit?

Yes.
Press the power button once to turn off the Parent Viewer's LCD screen.
To turn the screen back on, press any key on the Parent Viewer.
Whether you will hear sounds from the Baby Unit while the screen is off depends on whether Auto Wake Up has been activated. With Auto Wake Up on, the audio will also be muted after no sound is detected for 50 seconds. When a sound is detected, both video and audio will turn on, allowing you to hear and see your baby. With Auto Wake Up off, the audio will keep playing while the Parent Viewer's LCD screen is turned off.
Alternatively, when your Parent Viewer has been inactive for 5 minutes, Dim Mode initiates by default to conserve battery. With Dim Mode , the screen will dim to the lowest brightness level, with sound continuously transmitting, until the Parent Viewer becomes active again.
My voice is not going through to the Baby Unit. How do I talk to my child through the Baby Unit?

To talk to your child from the Parent Viewer:
1.Press and hold the TALK button while speaking into the microphone. While you are speaking, the Parent Viewer's speaker will be muted.
2.When you have finished talking, let go of the TALK button to unmute the Parent Viewer's speaker and hear your child's response.
If you have more than one Baby Unit and is monitoring your baby in a multi-CAM mode ( Split mode or Patrol mode ), the TALK feature will not work. Change back to single CAM mode before speaking to your baby with the TALK button.
My camera will not pair to the parent unit.

Tip 1 : To pair the camera to the parent unit press the PAIR button located on the bottom of the camera until it beeps; then release it. Wait unit the unit establishes connection.
Tip 2 : Try resetting the unit by following the steps below:
Step 1: Disconnect the power to the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 2: Wait a few seconds before connecting power back to the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 3: Turn on the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 4: Wait for the parent unit to synchronize with the baby unit(s).
Try pairing the camera to the parent unit.
The battery in my parent unit does not seem to hold a charge. (ALL BABY MONITORS)

Tip 1 :
Step 1: Confirm proper installation of the battery.
Step 2: Confirm that the red charging LED is on and that the battery icon is cycling when the ac adapter is plugged in.
Step 3: Verify that the adapter is pushed in all the way in and that the electrical outlet it's plugged into isn't controlled by a wall switch. Wiggle the power supply plug and cord - if the LED turns on intermittently then the problem is with the adapter or plug and not battery.
Step 4: Verify that the customer is using the VTech power supply that came with the baby monitor.
Tip 2 : When you charge the battery pack initially or it has not been used for a long period of time; charge it for 11 to 12 hours continuously. It takes longer to charge the battery when the parent unit is turned on. To shorten the charging time; turn the parent unit off.
The image of my baby is unclear/fuzzy hard to see.

Tip 1 : Try moving the baby unit a little closer to your infant.
Tip 2 : The parent unit may be too far away from the baby unit. Try moving them closer together however; not closer than 3 feet. The operating range is 150 feet indoors; however; that may vary depending on environmental conditions and other interferences such as wall; doors etc.
Tip 3 : Try adjusting the brightness of the screen.
Step 1: Press MENU/SELECT when the parent unit is not in use.
Step 2: Press ► to choose LCD Settings icon; then press SELECT .
Step 3: Press ▼ to Brightness.
Step 4: Press ◄ or ► to adjust screen brightness.
Step 5: Press SELECT ; then press TALK to return to the live video.
Tip 4 : Try resetting the unit by following the steps below:
Step 1: Disconnect the power to the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 2: Wait a few seconds before connecting power back to the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 3: Turn on the baby unit(s) and the parent unit.
Step 4: Wait for the parent unit to synchronize with the baby unit(s).
Lines appear on the screen of the Parent Unit.

Tip 1 : If your parent unit has what appears to be red, yellow and blue lines on the screen, remove the protective plastic from the parent unit screen.
Tip 2 : Try resetting the parent unit.
Step 1: Disconnect the powet to the parent unit.
Step 2: Turn off the parent unit.
Step 3: Wait for 1 minute.
Step 4: Re-install the power adapter and turn on the parent unit.
Step 5: Allow up to a minute for the baby unit and parent unit to link back up then test again.
