For message recording, your telephone has a Built-in answering system, and it also supports Voicemail service offered by your telephone service provider(subscription is required, and fee may apply).
The main differences between them are:

Based on the above information, if you want to...
Use the built-in answering system to record your messages
Your Voicemail service can bundle in your telephone plan. As such, you would need to contact your telephone service provider to disable it.
*TIP: Can I switch back to Voicemail service if I want to?
As long as your telephone plan includes the Voicemail service, you can still re-enable it through your service provider.Use the voicemail service to record your messages
Simply turn off the Built-in answering system at any time, and you can use the Voicemail service only.Use both the Built-in answering system and the Voicemail service to record messages
By default, the Voicemail service is usually set to answer after 2 rings, while your Built-in answering system is set after 3 rings. Please check with your telephone service provider to learn how to set your voicemail settings.Suggest to set your Built-in answering system to answer calls at least 2 rings earlier than your Voicemail service. In other words, if your answering system sets to answer after 3 rings (by default), then you need to set the Voicemail service to answer after 5 rings.
What happened is that if you on a call or the answering system is already recording, and you receive ANOTHER incoming call, then the third caller is able to leave a Voicemail message.
On the other hand, if you are not on a call nor the answering system is recording, the incoming caller can leave a message directly to the Built-in Answering system.
I cannot activate Yahoo! Messenger or Email access on the InfoPhone web portal. How is this done?
-
The Info features of the InfoPhone require the creation of an account through the web portal. The "Home" account is the main account on every phone. A Home account will give you access to all of the Info features except Yahoo! Messenger and Email. You must create a user profile to access these features. See your User’s Manual for instructions on creating a user profile at the http://infophone.com website.
Note: To activate Yahoo! Messenger and Email, you must have a Yahoo! account. You will need your account information when creating your user profile.
- Purchase a dual (duplex) outlet adapter and plug it into the phone side of the DSL filter. This will create an additional phone jack for you to connect the InfoPhone.
My InfoPhone does not disconnect a call when I place it in its charging cradle.
- You must press OFF to disconnect the phone call. The handset will not disconnect by just placing it in the charging cradle. This feature allows you to use the speakerphone while the handset is charging, thus avoiding battery drain.
Can I use the InfoPhone with VoIP service?
- You can use your InfoPhone with any service that allows you to use a standard phone. Many VoIP services allow you to use your existing phones with their equipment.
- Yes, you can access the Info features on one InfoPhone handset while making a phone call on another.
-
If the phone number you attempt to dial is a local number (contains the same area code as the line from which youre dialing), most local phone companies will not accept a "1" before the area code. The InfoPhone will automatically place a "1" before the area code unless you’ve input your local area codes.
To do this, with the handset idle, press Menu; scroll to Registration Settings; press Select; scroll to Base Settings; press Select; scroll to Area Code; press Select. The next screen allows you to input up to three local area codes. Press Set to save. Press Back or OFF to return to the idle screen.
Once this is done, the phone will check the area code list before it dials from Caller ID or Local Search numbers. If the number to be called has a matching area code, it will be dialed without a "1" in front. Otherwise, the "1" will be inserted automatically.
